Block the Bulldozers and Bombs to Israel

This week, the U.S. Senate will vote on four Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs): (S.J.Res. 32, 136, 137, & 138). These JRDs would block the transfer of $660 million worth of bombs to Israel as well as Caterpillar's armored D9 bulldozers that are used in military operations and to destroy Palestinian homes and communities.

A couple of these JRDs are now expected to come up for a vote early evening on Wednesday, April 15 - today.

Message:

I am writing to you as a constituent who is deeply concerned about the destruction we are seeing now across the Middle East.

The United States must stop authorizing and supplying the weaponry and machinery that Israel is using to destroy civilian life across the region.

I urge both my Senators to VOTE YES on the current JRDs (S.J. Res. 32, S.J. Res. 136, S.J. Res. 137, and S.J. Res. 138)

I call for my Representative to CO-SPONSOR the Block the Bombs Act, H.R. 3565.

Across Gaza, Lebanon, and now Iran, Israel’s military operations have resulted in devastating consequences for civilians. In Gaza, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed and nearly the entire population displaced, many multiple times, as homes, hospitals, and essential infrastructure have been destroyed. In Lebanon, ongoing bombardment, displacement, and the continued occupation of southern Lebanon have forced families from their homes and placed entire communities at risk.

These patterns of violence raise serious concerns under both international humanitarian law and U.S. law, particularly in the use of weapons in ways that cause disproportionate harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The United States continues to provide the weapons that make these operations possible. As Israel has continued to violate U.S. and international law without accountability, U.S. taxpayer-subsidized military aid to Israel must end.

The JRDs in the Senate provide an opportunity for Congress to act by blocking the imminent transfer of additional bombs and military equipment, including those used in the demolition of Palestinian homes.

The Block the Bombs Act, H.R. 3565, would block major weaponry to Israel in the long-term, in compliance with U.S. law and international law.
