Israel's current openly fascist government is doing its utmost to injure and dispossess Palestinians, brazenly trampling their human rights.

Israel's illegal settlers in the West Bank are committing daily violent attacks with the encouragement of Israeli government ministers. Their terrorism has been successful in driving out entire Palestinian communities who can bear no more.

With the settlers' help, the Israeli government has ethnically cleansed a large section of the West Bank between Ramallah and Jericho.

This year, Israel has approved thousands of new housing units in occupied Palestinian territory, in flagrant violation of international law, brazenly disregarding U.S. and United Nations demands for this illegal colonization to cease.

Israel continues to arrest and prosecute hundreds of Palestinian children in a court system that does not protect their rights or uphold basic standards for due process. Most of these kids are being abused, beaten, or tortured for confessions; unsurprisingly, 99% are convicted and sent to prison.

Israeli forces have killed and injured a record number of Palestinian children this year.

In just the last two years, Israel has destroyed over 1,800 structures in occupied territory and rendered homeless over 2000 Palestinians, more than half of which are children.

Last month, the United Nations released a ground-breaking report that establishes the illegality of Israel's never-ending military occupation.

Israeli apartheid is now widely recognized, whether openly or quietly, by many institutions and government leaders around the world, including in the U.S.

The United States must cease funding Israel's human rights abuses.
That is the purpose of H.R. 3103, to monitor how and where U.S. aid is used for destructive abuse of Palestinian human rights, and to stop those violations from being funded with U.S. taxpayers' money.

Contact your legislators in Congress: call on your Representative to support H.R. 3013 in the House of Representatives; ask your Senators to introduce a companion bill in the Senate.

Even if you believe they will not take listen or take action, it is worthwhile to persist in sending the message that their constituents care about human rights for all, including the Palestinians.

Subject: Don't allow US aid to fund Israeli human rights abuses

Message:

I am deeply disturbed by:

1) the military detention, abuse, or ill-treatment of Palestinian children in Israeli military detention,
2) the seizure and destruction of Palestinian property and homes in violation of international humanitarian law, and
3) threats from Israeli leaders that their government should and will unilaterally annex Palestinian territory.

In May of this year, Rep. Betty McCollum (MN-4th) introduced H.R. 3103, the Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act, which addresses these concerns.

Among the bill's findings are:

• Approximately 3,100,000 Palestinians live in the West Bank, of which around 42 percent are children under the age of 18 who have lived their entire lives under Israeli military control.

• Children are entitled to special protections and due process rights under international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

• The Government of Israel and its military detains around 500 to 700 Palestinian children between the ages of 12 and 17 each year and prosecutes them before a military court system that lacks basic and fundamental guarantees of due process in violation of international standards.

• Israeli security forces detain children under the age of 12 for interrogation for extended periods of time even though the prosecution of children under 12 is prohibited by Israeli military law.

• Israel’s drive to perpetuate its control over the occupied West Bank results in other serious violations of international law, including the unlawful demolition of Palestinian homes and the forcible transfer of Palestinian civilians.

• The destruction of property in an occupied territory is prohibited under international humanitarian law, unless absolutely necessary for military operations.

• The United Nations Office for the Coordination for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported between April 15, 2021 and March 30, 2023, Israeli authorities demolished or seized 1,840 Palestinian structures across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the displacement of 2,170 people, including 1,104 Palestinian children.

These abhorrent practices should not be allowed to continue and U.S. aid should never be used to fund these practices. Therefore I call on my Representative to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 3103, and I strongly urge my Senators to introduce a companion bill in the Senate.
